licence

We’re going to try and make the licensing and legal as simple as possible (for everyone involved). We’ve got a couple of tiers to make that happen, so that whether you’re submitting your pics, searching for something for your short film, or looking for the next Times Square billboard, there’s a license for you..

For personal projects, you are welcome to download and use the images for free. In order to keep the images safe, these are locked to a maximum size of 1200px, which we think should be good enough for decks, mockups, and other things. To use them you don’t need to ask, just click to download. This is why we don’t have any watermarks, so you are good to go – and this flexibility will hopefully mean more photos are used and picked up for editorial or commercial projects.

The editorial licence, put simply, is anything that isn’t a commercial use project, but is out in the world. The license is a single fee charged, at this point discussed via email, and this covers the following areas:

Editorial website
Magazine article
Newspaper article
Museum, attractions, and non-commercial display
Press release and press pack
Use within a documentary or news programme in any broadcast and web media
Inside use in book publishing and educational/academic print and digital products
Title sequence for a documentary programme in any broadcast and web media

The commercial licence covers any advertising usage, from social media to billboards.

This includes:

Commercial website and social media
Internal business use
Pitch presentations
Gifts, merchandise, board games and packaging
Online advertising
Use within an entertainment programme (any broadcast and web media) or video game (excludes title sequence)
Marketing direct mail, brochures and reports, advertorial
Wall décor and display: corporate, retail, home, trade show, point of sale
Book or magazine cover
Title sequence for film or entertainment programme (any media), or video game
Use within feature film/movie
Use within film or programme channel ident, trailer or key art

Model release

millimetre is a small project designed for creatives to share what they’ve taken. Because of this, most of the images will be of friends and family, which we think helps bring them to life. But we’ll still need model release forms for all participants with visible faces! So if you’ve added a photo, please be on speaking terms with the subject, and if you’re looking to use an image, we’ll sort the model release form.

There will be a handy link here where there is a simple sendable model release form for the site.
